Senior Engineer, Data Center Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Vehicle required with the ability to travel between data center sites:
NY2, NY4, NY5 (Secaucus) Weehawken, Carteret and New York City.
Maintain integrity of global data centers, on site and with remote hands.
Rack and cable servers and other networking equipment, complete detailed documentation of hardware inventory and circuits.
Locally administer Windows/Linux servers and various Cisco, Arista, Juniper network equipment.
Troubleshoot server and network hardware, TCP/IP Configuration of DRAC/iLO/PDU remote management.
Strong personal initiative, consistently responsible for critical deliverables
Excellent teamwork, often consulted by other team members and groups. Actively involved in training and mentoring new team members
Ability to prioritize work efficiently without direct guidance from management
Maintain access control lists and check access reports daily
Maintain the 'process and procedure' documentation relating to all aspects of data Center operations
Ensure up to date shift logs are kept at all times
To provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns to maintain SLA's
Installation, relocation and recovery of Network, Server and Storage hardware to manufacturer standards and industry best practice.
Repair of hardware to major component level (e.g. hard disk, NIC card, memory) across a broad range of vendor equipment.
Execution of all work to Data Center work process & procedure.
Manage asset record updates, tracking and placing assets as to their location and status (deployed, ceased etc.).
Carry out daily checks to ensure security and access policies are being adhered to and Data Center cleanliness is maintained.
Ensure recorded details of all hardware installations, moves or changes are correct.
Ensure that all records are updated following any installations, moves or changes
Control Data Center stocks (copper/fibre patch leads, patch panels, connectors etc.) and report appropriately.
Regularly audit the Data Centers & Data Center records
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5 years' experience working in Data Center environments
Experience working in a financial services production environment preferred
Experience working with ServiceNow, PatchManager, and/or Sentry Power Manager a plus
Must be able to physically lift 70lbs.
Pro-active and flexible with ability to work either as part of a team or as an individual
Strong written and verbal communication at all levels
Experience of hardware manufacturer installation standards and knowledge of copper and fibre cabling installations and standards, with preference given to the following
Qualifications:
Certified Data Center Technician CDCTP, HP Accredited Platform Specialist, Systimax Installation & Maintenance ND3361, and Corning NPI Membership
Basic network knowledge and good experience of a broad range of IT hardware; particularly Juniper.
Understanding of IP networks
Experience of working in an ITIL controlled environment with knowledge of Change Control, Incident Management & Problem Management processes.
Good experience using Microsoft Office and CRM databases
Ability to manage 3rd party contract staff/companies working within the DC
Strong attention to detail
Desire to learn and progress within the organisation
Excellent time management skills
